MEUW has created a “Powering Futures” Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing careers in electrical power distribution. The scholarship fund was established in 2018 in conjunction with the association's 90th anniversary and benefits students who live in one of the 81 public power communities across Wisconsin. (Read the news release announcing the scholarship fund.)
The scholarship fund, which was established as an endowment with the Incourage Community Foundation based in Wisconsin Rapids, reflects MEUW's commitment to sustaining public power in Wisconsin. As an endowed fund, MEUW’s Powering Futures Scholarship will live on in perpetuity, awarding its annual earnings to support students pursuing a career as a Field Service Technician, Groundman, Lineman Apprentice, Electric Meter Technician, Substation Electrician Apprentice or Utility Technician.
Details about the scholarship criteria can be found here or on the Incourage website. To be eligible, the applicant must be a graduating high school senior, continuing college student, technical college student, or non-traditional college student residing in a Wisconsin public power community.
The 2024 scholarship application period is open from Dec. 16, 2024 through Jan. 24, 2025. Apply online here. |
