One of the benefits MEUW members enjoy is access to the detailed information in MEUW’s annual Wage & Benefits Survey, highlighting the pay and perks provided to municipal electric utility employees.
2025 SURVEY TIMELINE
- Kick-off and member feedback – March 6 to March 14
- Data collection – March 17 to April 17
- Compile results and validate formatting – April 21 to May 2
- Results of 2025 survey distributed – Week of May 5
DATA COLLECTION INSTRUCTIONS
Before you respond to the survey, we recommend you:
- Set aside sufficient time to read these instructions and fully complete the survey. (We recommend you plan on 20 to 30 minutes)
- Review the full set of questions (including the job titles listed) and research answers you may not know in advance.
- Complete the survey in a quiet place where interruptions will be limited.
- Be careful not to close your browser or use the "Back" button while entering your responses.
The web-based tool used to collect the data enables users to “Save and Resume Later.” To learn more about the functionality, read and carefully follow
these steps.
If you close your browser before receiving the confirmation, you will lose the data you entered.
Input wage data only for the job titles listed. Select the title/role that
most closely matches a title used by your utility/municipality, even if it is not exactly the same. There is space provided to add any title that is truly unique.
If you have more than one person in a position, provide the average hourly wage between the lowest paid and the highest paid (please do NOT list the actual wage for each individual in the role).
For 2025, the "groups" are set by applying the same factors used to determine MEUW’s annual dues to establish nine groups (A-I). The results will include raw data to enable utilities to complete their own comparisons; the groups are simply to provide some basis for comparison. The groupings are
here.
Replies are requested no later than noon on Thursday, April 17. Timely responses are appreciated. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

Your responses will be recorded only after you click "Submit" on the final page of the survey.
OTHER INFORMATION
Only those utilities that provide information for the survey will receive a copy of the results. Last year, 80% of eligible utilities responded. A list of utilities that completed the 2024 survey is available
here.
Recognizing both the proprietary nature of the data collection and the sensitivity of these data, MEUW only provides the results to one person at each utility that responds (typically the person who completes the survey). This practice makes it easier for us to control how the data is used and by whom.
We do not provide the results directly to others.
