City of Stoughton - Utilities Director

The City of Stoughton, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Utilities Director. Known for its Norwegian heritage, the City of Stoughton (population 13,134), is located on the scenic Yahara River, and is just minutes away from the state capitol of Madison, Wisconsin. 

The purpose of this position is to supervise and direct wastewater, water, and electric operations; prepare and monitor budgets, plans, and goals; develop policies and procedures; implement operations study recommendations; maintain utility service quality standards; coordinate various construction and development programs; ensure compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and other local, State, and Federal mandates.

The ability to provide direction to the Utilities Division staff regarding engineering studies, utilities safety programs, CAD and SCADA implementation, well abandonment and well head protection programs, and other programs. Provide information, assistance, and coordinate activities with other divisions, consultants, auditors, regulatory agencies, customers, etc. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is preferred, or a Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field. A minimum of ten years of utilities experience, including management and supervisory experience preferred. Must have or obtain, within one year, DNR Grade 1-GD Waterworks Operator License or certification designated as Operator in Training and have or obtain, within four years, DNR Wastewater Operator License or certification designated as Operator in Training. Previous business development experience preferred but not required.

Must also have proven knowledge of principles of supervision and management, including participative management; ability to supervise the work of departmental staff including; coordinating, assigning, monitoring, and evaluating work. Ability to positively motivate employees and create a team oriented, effective, and efficient work environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Mayor, City Council members, department heads, staff, and the public.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $103,064 - $136,115 annually, with an excellent benefits package.

New Lisbon Utilities - Journeyman Lineworkers
City of New Lisbon (Population 2,554), a municipal electric and water utility, is accepting applications for two Journeyman Line workers. These are skilled positions in operating, maintaining, and constructing electric distribution, transmission, and substation systems. The City also operates and maintains its own generation system. Experience with municipal generators is a plus but not required. Minimum qualifications are to include graduation from high school, graduation from lineman vocational training program and a valid journeyman card. You must be able to acquire and maintain a Wisconsin commercial driver’s license. These positions will require occasional after hours call outs and possible work in inclement weather. Knowledge of safety rules and good communication are a must. From time to time you may be needed to assist in other city departments. Starting wage for this position will be up $42.00 per hour depending on qualifications and the City offers an excellent benefit package. Menasha Utilities - Electric Distribution Technician
Menasha Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Electric Distribution Technician.  Menasha Utilities is a Wisconsin municipal utility serving over 9,100 electric customers in a community of 17,437. Menasha Utilities - Engineering Technician

 Menasha Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Technician.  Menasha Utilities is a Wisconsin municipal utility serving over 9,100 electric customers in a community of 17,437. The Engineering Technician shall be responsible for assisting the Technical Service Engineer, GIS Specialist, Distribution Technician, Metering Department and Engineering Manager.  This is a management position responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of technical projects of the water, electric and telecommunications utility.  General responsibilities include, but are not limited to engineering, electric and water metering, special projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager, organizing maintenance activities involved in the substations and electric distribution, supervising contractor activities, GIS/CAD mapping, construction standards.  Other responsibilities under the direction of the Engineering Manager include assisting with the development of the department budgets; strategic planning; capital replacement plan; and providing other support services as required.  It also includes participation in Commission meetings, keeping current in areas of responsibility by attending workshops, seminars, reviewing professional journals and reports, keeping up-to-date on new trends, methods, and technology in related areas.
