The 2017 MEUW Annual Conference will be held in Madison, Wis. June 28-30 at the Edgewater. This annual conference attracts approximately 100 professionals in the utility industry including superintendents, general managers, directors and commissioners.  Below please find the button to access the agenda for the three day conference.  Please note:  This year we will be trying something new for our programs.  You can either select to view the program on our website the day of the conference, receive everything loaded on a pen drive at registration (*You must bring your own device) or pay to have a paper program ready for you at check-in.

MEUW would like to provide a warm welcome to our keynote speaker, Penn Vieau of Freedom Personal Development. Penn is a leadership expert, coach, and energetic speaker that will offer attendees a way to train their brains for success.  You will soon see that Penn has a knack for teaching people how to be absolutely amazing in all aspects of their lives, professional and personal.

As a WUSA member, we invite you to sponsor this year’s conference. Participating as a sponsor allows you to capture attendee’s attention in a variety of ways, and demonstrates your level of support and commitment to the utility industry. It provides a cost effective way to reinforce your organization’s brand and build awareness among a relevant audience.

As MEUW changes, so do the opportunities to our members.  This year we are excited to offer a golf outing or boat cruise to members on Wednesday, June 28th to kick off our conference.  Also, last year MEUW offered a banquet on Wednesday evening and this year it will be a tailgate gathering at the Madison Mallards baseball game followed by an opportunity to stay for the game.  There is no cost to members, but should you want to bring a guest, a small fee will be applied.

Below are the sponsorship level details available for this year’s conference.

ALL SPONSORS: All sponsors will receive a list of attendees prior to the conference so they can contact them to make connections during the conference. We also invite conference sponsors to include your company’s promotional item in a conference gift bag for attendees. Promotional item must arrive at the MEUW office by June 16 to be included.

2017 Awards

MEUW is now accepting nominations for the 2017 MEUW Awards. Attached to this document is the award nomination packet information. The nomination deadline is Friday, May 26.

Now is the time to nominate a mayor, city council representative, or utility commissioner for the Philip La Follette Public Official Award. Consider nominating someone who has significantly contributed to the betterment of public power for the Donald Smith Distinguished Service Award. And don’t forget governing board members with ten or more years of service (as of May 2017) who qualify for The Charlie Bradburn Pillars of Public Power Award. This award recognizes governing board members for their years of service, and those that serve must be nominated or renominated every year. The “MEUW Awards Guidelines,” found in this packet, contain descriptions and criteria for each award.

• All award recipients will be notified via email or mail should they be selected to receive an award. This will allow time to make adequate preparations to attend the conference.
• There are four categories of The Charlie Bradburn Pillars of Public Power Award. To better recognize more city commissioners and local officials, nominate someone for the Bronze category (10-19 years’ service); Silver (20-29 years’ service); Gold (30-39 years’ service); or Platinum (40 or more years).

Please remember that recipients of the Charlie Bradburn Pillars of Public Power Award must be nominated each year. This confirms that the person remains a governing board member.

Please contact Randy Jaeckels (rjaeckels@wppienergy.org) if you have any questions about the forms, processes or nominations.
