Statistics

MEUW's 82 member communities range in size from Manitowoc with a population of 35,000, to Merrillan with a population of 589. Collectively, these public power utilities distribute over 11 percent of the electricity in Wisconsin. Most have roots going back close to a century or more. All are operated on a not-for-profit basis, and overseen by a local governing board composed of local citizens and elected officials. All are dedicated to providing low-cost, reliable electricity to their citizens, farms, businesses and industries.
